God makes a way!

“Thus says the Lord, who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters.” Isaiah 43:16

Are you stuck in some unchanging situation?

This Scripture is referring to the parting of the Red Sea, but Scripture is alive and breathing and this spoke to me. It is the LORD saying this. Does that still grab our attention? I so often get caught up with things and forget who is talking to me. And God wants us to know who He is, and what He is up to in our lives.

He “makes a way.” Forget the sea and mighty waters for a moment…He makes a way! God, who created the universe, makes a way for us. He did not have to, but He did. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” There is no other way to be right with God except through what Jesus did for us on the cross. A few verses later God says, “I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” A way to me is a real path, even if I only see one step at a time. It brings hope to see movement, beckoning us this way, or, just some action to produce good change. A river in a desert is a path only God can bring about. Only He can give us some avenue to travel through our situation and He will do it in a way we cannot.

The sea is endless when you are on it. And if there is a storm, it only makes it seem all the more powerful and perpetual. I have always marveled at how a ship knows how to get from one point to another with no land in sight. Don’t we all feel that way at times? Is there a crisis on the horizon and you dread it hitting you head on? Our situations often feel this way, but it is worse if no relief is in sight. God promises to make a path for us to get through it and that path is one where He is walking.

God has His way for you and it is a way through. Sometimes it is a way of exit, but very often it is a way through. That way we get to hold onto Him and gain His strength and love in the process. He will see you through the murky waters, through unanswered prayers, through a broken heart, deep grief, and any other area we feel is an endless drift upon the sea of life. Trust in His ability to make a way for you! If the sky around you is dark or a troubled sea is near…no matter what it is God can and will cut through it with His own person. He has you in such times and He will make a way for you to arrive safely on the other side.
